James Seng, 庄振宏

Commissioner James Seng (Seng Ching Hong) is an Internet pioneer who developed and championed the international domain name (IDN) concept that is now the accepted international standard. He has held leadership positions in industry fora, such as co-chair of the Internationalized Domain Names Working Group; served in government, as the former Assistant Director of Enabler Technologies at the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore; and undertook business ventures as an entrepreneur, starting i-DNS.net, Zodiac Holdings, Beijing VideoTX Tech and the Thymos Capital incubator. In these businesses he has served in various roles, including Chairman, CEO and CTO.

Commissioner Seng runs his own investment fund and travels extensively for philanthropic initiatives.

The GIIC recognizes James Seng for his prolific contribution of insights on technology’s impact on society, as an Internet pioneer for the Asia-Pacific region, and for having disproportionate influence on the internationalization of the Internet’s domain name system.
